Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University is different from the conventional universities. Since it aims at “Reaching the Unreached” the university has to offer more liberty in its functioning. The university has entire Maharashtra as its functional territory and it is 100% self sufficient in financial responsibilities. It is, therefore, the functioning of its finance department is more complex and challenging.
Finance officer is in charge of overseeing the financial transactions of the University. Normally, Finance professionals are tasked with developing budgets, monitoring transactions, and preparing financial reports, so these are the main tasks here too. Staff in the Finance department of the YCMOU possesses strong accounting and analytical skills.
Finance Officer has a certain duties and responsibilities in the YCMOU like
guiding in the Preparation of budgets, Managing records and receipts, Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions, Preparing balance sheets, Processing invoices, Developing an in-depth knowledge of organizational products and process and so on.
To provide an efficient and effective accounting and administrative service for the university is one of the important functions of the Finance Officer.
Finance officer’s prime duty is to oversee the organization’s financial resources to achieve the annual revenue and budget goals. Finance officer is an important authority in making strategy decisions.
